Illnios LST (Landing Ship Tanks) Association Senecas' "Prairie Shipyard" Dedication Saturday, May 21, 2005

Invitations are being extended to the citizen and the business community to attend the dedication of the long overdue Prairie Shipyard memorial monument dedication being held at Crotty Park in Seneca, at 10 A.M. This event will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the last LST launched on June 8, 1945, and the thousand shipyard workers and sailors who sailed them. Former WWII, Korean and Vietnam Navy and Coast Guard sailors who sailed Senecabuilt LST are expected to be in attendence, as well as their families. Arriving from far away as California. There are sure to be decendence of former shipyard workers and even former workers. Plan to arrive early and enjoy the camaraderie. Copies of "Our Prairie Shipyard", Historical edition books will be available for sale. Tee shirts honoring the occasion will be available also. A fund raising lucheon, by reservation only, will be served at the Seneca grad school folowing the dedication. Donations should be made payable to the Illinois LST Association and mailed to 6144 West 79th Street, Burbank, Illinois 60459.
